Thoughts of Healing

I am so excited to be able to attend the “I Can Do It!” conference this weekend in Tampa, FL, USA, sponsored by Hay House, Inc.  Many of you are probably already familiar with Louise L. Hay who founded the company.

I wanted to take today’s post to tell you about my favorite book, so far, from Louise, You Can Heal Your Life and tell you how I like to use the book.

First of all, the book was very enlightening to me as to my own self-limiting beliefs and behaviors.  The essence of the book is that our thoughts and mental patterns manifest themselves is our body as “dis-ease.”

As you may know by now if you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, I don’t believe everything I read, I like to test things for myself and see if they make sense for me.  As I read this book, not only did I feel more empowered, but I began to notice a pattern that all of my ailments pointed to the same thought processes.  Once I changed this one overall theme in my life, many of my physical complaints disappeared.

Now, don’t get me wrong; I do slip up and they do reappear, but now I know what to do, or, more importantly, what to think, in order to make them subside or leave altogether.

Recently, I’ve happened upon a new way to use the book.  When a close friend or loved one has a recurring illness or physical problem, I go to “The List.”  You see, Louise has compiled a list in the back of this book that lists just about every physical complaint possible along with the “probable cause,” and a “new thought pattern.”  These new thought patterns can be used as affirmations and after you’ve practiced them for a while and made a little effort to believe them, your physical condition will improve (as it did for me.)

So what I now try to do is find this new thought pattern and say it, as often as I can work it in to conversation, with the person who has the condition.  I find ways to paraphrase it, make it personable and appropriate to the situation.

Is it working?  It’s probably too soon to tell, but everyone does seem to feel better after talking to me.  I mean, I always try to be as uplifting and positive as I can be, but this is more specific and more directed toward this person’s individual problems.

I’ve noticed that for a lot of us, we need to have more faith in the universe; the belief that “All is well.”  I myself am constantly plagued by the concept of “opportunity cost.”  I almost wish I’d never learned this concept in my business training because somewhere along the way, my subconscious decided to apply it to everything in life.  Whenever I’m doing anything, I worry about the opportunity cost – is there something else I could be doing right now that would benefit me in a greater way?

What I need to do, and a lot of you do, too, is relax, lighten up, and trust that everything is happening in its proper timing.  The overwhelming recurring affirmation for me is, “I trust the process of life.”

Interesting!

What else is interesting is that as I look up the physical conditions of my friends I can see a definite connection between their thought processes and physical manifestations.  Occasionally, the book will reveal something I was unaware of, and when I mention something to this person, he or she will say something like, “You have no idea how much I needed to hear that!”

Ah, but I do.

We all have emotional insecurities and short-comings that are brought about by the process of life itself.  Instead of being ashamed of them or trying to repress them, if we can change them through our thought processes, we can truly heal our lives.

I’ll be bringing you more from the seminars next week.  Until then – have a joy-filled weekend!

I adore Louise Hay and You Can Heal Your Life is one of the most frequently visited books on my bookshelf. Thanks for sharing your tip for helping others with this tool. I’ll give that a spin!
