I will persist until I succeed.
If I persist, if I continue to try, if I continue to charge forward, I will succeed.
I will persist until I succeed.
I was not delivered unto this world in defeat, nor does failure course in my veins.
I will persist until I succeed.
. . . it is not given to me to know how many steps are necessary in order to reach my goal. Failure I may still encounter at the thousandth step, yet success hides behind the next bend in the road. Never will I know how close it lies unless I turn the corner.
Always will I take another step. If that is of no avail, I will take another, and yet another. In truth, one step at a time is not too difficult.
I will persist until I succeed.
I will be liken to the raindrop which washes away the mountain; the ant who devours a tiger; the star which brightens the earth. . . I will build my castle one brick at a time for I know that small attempts, repeated, will complete any undertaking.
I will persist until I succeed.
I will ignore the obstacles at my feet and keep mine eyes on the goals above my head, for I know that where dry desert ends, green grass grows.
I will persist until I succeed.
The above passage is part of my favorite from Og Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman in the World.
One of the biggest problems we face, is running out of steam, sort to speak, and wanting to give up just when the going gets tough.
When faced with a challenge, we need to persist. When facing adversity, we need to persist. When feeling down, we need to persist.
But how do we find the strength and courage to persist when all seems lost, or it feels as though there is no reason to continue?
Through your own written word. Go back and read your values. Re-read your goals. Your inner being has all the answers. Read your own motivational book. You’ve been writing and keeping lists for a while now, when things start to feel frazzled, ground yourself by remembering who you are and what your purpose is. If you haven’t done this already, here are a few articles to get you started:

Another common obstacle is that we come up to a challenge and start whining, “But it’s so hard! I can’t do this.” Or, “I don’t know what to do next. I don’t know how to go about this.” This is where your strategic planning comes into play.
Also note that success doesn’t have to be difficult. We make it that way. We choose to whine and complain, which means we struggle and make everything look difficult. It’s really not. It’s just one step at a time. I think that’s what Og meant when he said, “In truth, one step at a time is not too difficult.” I have found that statement to be 100% accurate. Sure, some steps are more difficult than others, but none are too difficult.
Sometimes, that next step is waiting to happen without you. Sometimes, there really is nothing for you to do. You just have to be patient, and wait for it. Don’t give up in the meantime. If you’ve put everything into place and have done everything you know to do, it will pay off. But if you take off in a different direction, you may not be present when your desire is fulfilled. How many times do you remember saying, “Why didn’t I get this offer two months ago?” Or something similar?
I have witnessed many instances where the ultimate reward went to the person who stayed with the company, or committed to their own business, or simply committed to their own excellence - who persisted – and succeeded.
So . . . Persist until you succeed. (Then you can do whatever you want!)
