You’ve probably heard the adage, “Enthusiasm sells.” You’ve also probably experienced the benefit of enthusiasm toward a project at some point in your life. Today I’d like to explore the true value of enthusiasm and reflect on why it is so vital in our daily lives.
Think back to the last time you were enthusiastic about something. Hopefully, this won’t take very long! How did that project go? How did it turn out? How well did your life flow at that particular time?
If all went well, then you were able to maintain your enthusiasm for the duration of the project. If things did not turn out so splendidly, I’ll bet that after reflecting on it, your enthusiasm waned.
Why is that?
Why is enthusiasm so important in the outcome of an endeavor?
When you are enthused about a subject, the feeling itself is a clue from your inner being that you are on the correct path. You are fulfilling your mission. You are creating your desires. Any action you take while feeling enthusiasm will be worthwhile and fruitful.
As long as you can maintain your enthusiasm, all is well.
However, if you begin to lose focus, putting your thoughts on what you do not want, you begin to lose your enthusiasm, and your way.
For example, let’s say you have been wanting to start your own business, but are not sure in what industry. Then one day, you get an inspired idea and you are completely enthusiastic about it.
What do you do next?
You tell someone. Your enthusiasm propels you to think, and therefore talk, about it all the time. Eventually, you tell someone and although very well meaning as they are, they begin to tell you stories of how your idea will not work.
Your thoughts begin to wander to statements like, “Well, they are right. It is difficult to start your own business. Lots of people fail every day. I don’t have all the money I need to start right now anyway.”
Your enthusiasm is lost; and so is your dream.
Well, look at it this way; at least you didn’t invest a bunch of money before losing sight! A lot of people do that, but that’s another post!
So, how can we maintain our enthusiasm when others, with all their good intentions, are constantly trying to convince us to be “realistic?”
Well, enthusiasm is a vibration, and it’s one of the best. I’ve written two posts, How I Raise My Vibes, and 20 Ways to Raise Your Vibration that give lots of ways to get yourself feeling better about just about anything.
Find one of these that you can do while focusing on the subject with which you want to remain enthusiastic, OR forget about the subject altogether for a while and decide to come back to it later. If you’re on the right path, you’ll get excited about it again. Your inner being will constantly pull you toward your ultimate desire and there are many ways of getting what you want. Work on maintaining the highest feeling you can and things will fall back into place.
The trick to getting what you want quickly, is to follow the guidance of your inner being the first time, and refuse to listen to the Nay-Sayers. Just because an idea didn’t work for someone else does not mean that it won’t work for you. No one else has your unique talent-skill combination to make your life work for you – only you have that.
So whatever it is you want, whatever idea you’re longing to pursue, I’m here to tell you to do it. Go for it. You can do it. You’ve got what it takes. Are you enthused?

Debra
I think you nail the point when you said: “When you are enthused about a subject, the feeling itself is a clue from your inner being that you are on the correct path”
When we follow our inner being, and being true to it, then the energy will flow, and that energy is expressed as enthusiasm (in my opinion).
Thanks for this post, because it shows me to pay more attention to my enthusiasm.
After I read your post, I am thinking and finding how much I am used to shut down my enthusiasm, and do the work that “I’m supposed to do”
No wonder after all, I am seeking for more energy.
Thanks for your insight, Ghassan. Energy and enthusiasm do go hand in hand. The good news is, that which we sincerely seek, we always find. Our real job is to allow.
