“The Science of Getting Rich” Evaluated, Part Seven

For the past two weeks I have been evaluating Wallace D. Wattles’ “The Science of Getting Rich,” now owned by Rebecca Fine.

So far, I have identified and discussed six steps to getting rich, which are:

  1. Control Your Thoughts; Focus on Truth
  2. Be Grateful
  3. Find Your Purpose
  4. Set Clear, Definite Goals
  5. Receive Through Inspired Action
  6. Maintain Faith

It is now time to examine the final step: Be an example of excellence to others.

Wattles calls it, “The Advancing Personality.”  I call it living the life you want, and enjoying every minute of it.  Being an example of excellence to others will force you to live the first six steps, thereby making you rich by default.  This last step summarizes all the others, because if you’re living a life of abundance, you are living the first six steps.

Here are a few last thoughts, put in a slight different way, about the science of getting rich.

  • Your thoughts control everything around you; be careful with them.
  • Be creative in your search for wealth; there is plenty for all. There is no need to take anything from someone else.
  • Don’t worry.  Deal with events as they happen.  An answer will always appear.  Each problem contains within itself its own solution.
  • Be the type of person others like to be around - be happy.
  • Spend all of your spare time thinking about what you want, envisioning your success.
  • Feel that you are getting rich and be grateful for everything you have and everything that is on its way to you.  Enjoy the process, for it has a purpose also.
  • Take pride in your work, but don’t brag.   Know that your actions are fruitful.  Trust that your reward is coming.
  • Ignore nay sayers and negative thinkers.  Don’t even argue with them.  Always speak positively, about everything. When you find yourself falling into old thought patterns, correct yourself instantly.
  • Surround yourself with what you love.  Don’t be stingy.  Trust that there will always be more available to you exactly when you need it.
  • Do not question the science of getting rich or concern yourself with how things will come about. Trust your divine guidance; act when inspired.
  • Give more than you receive.
  • Think hard, work hard, play hard.  Think smart, work smart, play smart.  Think, work, play.

I’ve truly enjoyed writing this series and I want to thank everyone who e-mailed me and sent comments.  This is a journey for all of us and by helping you, I’ve advanced myself in so many ways.  I appreciate the opportunity and feel deeply honored that you trust me with such personal matters.  I’m sure I’ll be revisiting these concepts many times in the future.
